Saturday Thoughts

You know the thing I like about babysitting? Although I'll get the occasional 'tude, the kids I babysit are good kids. Their family is nice and they occasionally have some good food(: haha.
But really, the thing about kids is that they are honest.
I made her a nutella and strawberry sandwich, grilled up like a grilled cheese, she took one bite and decided she didn't like it. Although I have NO CLUE how anyone couldn't like
a.)my cooking
b.)the combo of strawberries and melted chocolate
source
haha, I'm just kidding (try not to take me so seriously ;) )

While we are talking about kids, the thing they have is something I envy. Intuitive Eating. You'll know what I'm talking about; if not, intuitive eating is stopping when you are full and eating when you are hungry. These kids, they eat when they are hungry (truth: it might not be the healthiest foods they are eating, but they are still listening to their bodies). And like I said, they stop when they are full. That's one problem I find myself having. I always want to finish what's in front of me, especially if I served myself or if I know it's healthy (but why?) I don't know. I guess it's just something I am programmed to think, that I should clean my plate, not necessarily ignoring my body's "full" cues, but more just focusing too much on finishing.
When I was at Hilton Head with my friends we went out for frozen yogurt and I ate WAY too much. (talk about a major stomach ache)

You guys know those cups they give you at the fro-yo shops, always huge and begging to be filled. Well this time my friends mine was filled to the brim. And yes it was good, but let me tell you that my body didn't have the same reaction my taste buds did. If only I could have slowed down in inhaling that delightful cup of goodness and enjoyed it, stopping when I was full. I can't change that now (obviously) and it's not really a big deal to me, because you win some and you lose some. And next time I'll try to approach the situation differently.

So that this post isn't all just my ramblings and serious talk, I'll leave you with a photo dump of the awesome trip I had with my two best friends (it was our graduation present) to Hilton Head Island

See you around

Don't Let Others Define YOU

So when I went to my personal training appointment today, my trainer joe mentioned that I have a "runners body." I get that a lot. I mean I have long legs and I've leaned out quite a bit recently, so I guess I should take it as a compliment. But what I wanted to talk about in this post is to not let others define who you are and what you want to do. Yes I do enjoy running but just because I'm thin and lean, doesn't mean I have to stick with running forever. I am really getting into biking; I don't necessarily have the legs for it yet, but I'm not going to let that defer me from training and gaining that muscle I need to propel the bike up hills and mountains (haha as if).

I'm gonna do several other examples, so feel free to skip to the moral of the story(:

Just because people say "you're smart" doesn't mean I don't make mistakes or that I know everything.

People always comment on how big my house is "it's huge!" And you know what, that doesn't mean I'm rich. I love that my dad worked from the bottom (he worked a low-paying job with Hallmark for a while before he started up his own small business) up to where he is now (the owner of his own company and he even gets to work from home). Okay I'm not trying to brag here (and I really hope it doesn't come off that way) What I'm trying to say is that just because I have a bigger house than other people doesn't mean my family has a lot of money, that I get everything I want or that I'm a spoiled brat. (woah I'm terrible at phrasing the point I want to make #bearwithme).

And the last example, when everyone says "man she's good at everything" #saidnooneever haha. I'm just kidding, no one has ever said that to me. The point I'm trying to make is that just because you give off the appearance of something (whether it's intentional or not) doesn't mean that's who you are as a person.

Be weird; especially with your friends. Oh and make sure you don't tell them that you posted these pictures on your blog. hehe(:

do what you want
find what you love
and be yourself #saidcarly #saidtwentyothers (more than likely I wasn't the first to say that, but we'll go with it)

And I'll leave you with my favorite mantra, found in one of the best movies I've seen

My life is GOOD.

it's a good thing i bookmarked a lot of granola recipes #andotherrecipesforthatmatter because I'm going on a beach trip on Monday #superpsyched and I wanted to make some buckwheat & quinoa granola; I'll post the recipe if it's good #we'llsee
check out my pinterest boards here!

it's a good thing i have this as my desktop background #becauseilovesomegoodfoodpics
recipes to come; I'm going to do a series on cooking for the family (if you have a crazy family like mine who actually allows their teenage daughter to dream of some crazy combinations)

it's a good thing my readers don't hate hashtags #ordothey?
be sure to comment if i'm driving you insane

it's a good thing I like blogging because many a days I think that these posts are just under-read, wastes of internet space #doyoueverfeellikethat?
you could comment on that too, you know just so I make sure humans are reading my webpages and that those page views my blogger homepage accounts for aren't just some smart monkeys (or apes for that matter (; ) scrolling through the web

it's a good thing I have a high pain tolerance because this bruise looks like it really hurts
with clip-on bike pedals, one must learn to unclip very quickly, or risk falling to the side #canigetanouch

it's a good thing my apetite is raging
because this breakfast was de-molished

it's a good thing I use blogger, because typing this post was super simple and took about five minutos

Using Google+ all the photos from my phone #lazyblogger are instantly uploaded to my Google/Blogger account

it's a good thing i'm going to stop using that sentence starter now(:

but [it was a good thing that] I did find my old iPod nano that I recently found out that you can send in for a free new one (like the brand new nanos!)

that I put on makeup the other day #itmademefeelpretty(:

WIAW (I made it!)

I think it's a little ironic that one of my summer goals was to be on time, yet last week I missed the link deadline for the WIAW. #oops

So here it is, a tad late, but with more eats to share (:

Thanks Jenn for hosting!

So let's start with fitness; as I said earlier I'm training for a triathlon so my workouts have been mainly geared around that, but I also have been incorporating some strength training, rest days and some Cardio Funk of course!

Monday: Cardio Funk
Tuesday: Personal Training Session (I won it in the YMCA contest :) )
Wednesday: Bike Ride
Thursday: XC Workout
Friday: Bike Ride with a friend
Saturday: Open Water Swim and Bike Ride

Now onto some eats; these are my eats from July 10th and then later I'll just post some random eats from recent meals

9:00 am; Banana, Mini LUNA Bar, and homemade Protein Thin Mint (not sure if I'm sold on these yet..)

After my triathlon training appointment (second breakfast; duh :) )
12:00pm; OIAJ (Plus some overflow ;) ) These oats were extremely voluminous

1/3 Cup Oat Bran
2 T Wheat Bran
Cooked in 1 1/2 Cups of Water/Coffee
(plus the usuals= Vanilla Extract, Cinnamon, Pinch of Salt)

After cooking in the microwave I mixed in about 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, 1/2 cup USVAM, 4 t Chia Seeds (I started with a Tablespoon and just added one more teaspoon) and left it in the fridge overnight. In the morning I topped it with Peanut Flour Candy

Before my almost forgotten Orthodontist Appointment; I really need to work on those summer goals!
2:30pm; A stir fry of sorts topped with Wasabi Peas and a mock Sriracha hot sauce

 A pre-dinner snack
4:45pm; a side of Fresh Okra and a Green Macho Smoothie topped with Strawberries, Peaches and a sprinkling of Cinnamon life, oh every spoonful or so (; #shouldntkeeptheboxsoclose

And some water of course a la my camelbak insulated waterbottle #lovethisthing

 Dinner while babysitting
7:30pm; Buffalo Chicken Salad Melt with Summer Squash, Homemade Ketchup, and Parsnip Fries

You didn't think I brought that all from home did you? (; #foodie

10:30pm; topped with a Double Chocolate Scone, Shredded Coconut and Blueberries

I'll try not to bore you, but here are some memorable eats from lately #photodump
